How are we Connected?

Our society has changed in many ways over the years. When my parents were kids and they wanted to get a hold of a fellow friend, they would pick up the phone and call them. Now that hardly happens anymore. I do not think I have talked to a friend on the phone in a few months. This is because instead of using the phone, we all connect in different ways. It depends on your age, the elderly probably use the phone more often then middle aged people or teenagers do. As a teenager myself, I connect with people over the internet and by using my cell phone. Over the internet we have facebook and e-mail. Facebook is used by so many people! You can connect with someone who lives in China if you wanted to. If I want to find out what a friend is doing, i just facebook them. I usually will get a reply in at least 24 hours. Also if i text a friend over the phone, i could get a reply from 2-5 minutes. It is a great way to communicate with others!! Another way is talking with someone in person if you meet up. I think communicating in person is the best way to have a conversation. That way you know exactly what they mean and what their emotions are.

  1. What your entry reminds me, Robin, is that we've all arranged all these different social media by timing--Twitter quicker, cell phone fast, Facebook fairly fast . . For me it depends on the person. Some people are phone people, some are cell, some are Facebook, some are text
